The excellent 2000 vintage produced a forcelful wine of tremendous quality and power. 73 Ogga Rioja Bodegas Santiage Ijalba (Spain) 2004 £69.50 This fine bodega makes this wine from 60 year old Tempranillo vines with minute yields givng great concentration and a hint of plums and vanilla from the oak casks. 74 Château Haut-Bages Monpelou Cru Borgeois, Pauillac (France) 2000 £46.00 A well aged version of this famous Bordeaux from a highly regarded domaine. 75 Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru “Les Saint-Georges” Domaine Chevillion-Chezeaux (France) 2002 £59.00 The vineyard of “Les Saint-Georges” is generally thought to be the best in Nuits-Saint-Georges. This small grower ages this substantial Burgundy for 20 months in oak casks resulting in a deep red colour and mellow style. 76 Beaune, Joseph Drouhin, Clos de Mouches Rouge (France) 2006 £98.50 Complex and elegant, beautifully ruby in colour with a bouquet that is pure, lively and conjures up little red berries. Grapes that have been hand picked from vines over 40 years old, a truly wonderful Pinot Noir. 77 Château Pichon Longueville, Comtesse De Lalande, Pauillac (France) 2003 £110.00 Château Pichon Longueville is situated just on the border of Château Latour in Southern Pauillac. This wonderful estate is distinguished by their wine for their elegance and finesse. This 2nd growth has exceptional character due to the perfect balance of the grape blend, which ensures a certain freshness and aromatic complexity to the wines. 78 Barolo Ornato, Piesmonte (Italy) 2005 £138.00 This wine has great soft tannins with intense and deep colour, almost imenetrable with a good structure and a long finish. Ornato is a more modern in style than other Barolo but still true to its roots.
